Nicaragua, also known as “the land of lakes and volcanoes”, is the largest country in Central America. Its physical geography is split up into three main sections, the Pacific lowlands, a mainly flat and warm area, the central highlands, a triangular region of rugged mountains with average temperature of 70 degrees fahrenheit (which is quite low for Nicaragua), and the Caribbean lowlands, hot plains along the eastern coast of Central America. Nicaragua has several lakes, including Lake Nicaragua, Lake Managua, and the San Juan River. Lake Nicaragua is the largest lake in Central America, with an area of 8,264 km2. Lake Managua, also known as Lake Xolotlán, is another big lake. Nicaragua has a tropical climate, ranging from 21 degrees celsius at night to 27 degrees celsius during the day. Managua, the capital and biggest city of Nicaragua, is a beautiful place full of natural scenery. It is along the coast of Lake Managua. Overall, Nicaragua is a diverse country in Central America, special for its intriguing geography, including lakes, mountains, and tropical climate, with Managua as its scenic capital.
